History: Tom Butters only served as Head Coach of the Duke Blue Devils baseball team for three seasons (1968 - 1970) and finished with a winning percentage just a bit under .500. He would make his mark, however, as a hugely successful Athletic Director at Duke. Under his guidance legendary basketball coach Mike "Coach K" Krzyzewski was hired, and sports programs at the University won 40 Atlantic Coast Conference titles during his tenure. He was also instrumental in negotiating a deal that brought the yearly men's basketball tournament, "March Madness", to fruition. The Duke Blue Devils are currently members of the ACC and play their home games at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.
